Where can I get good advice on painting. What are some basic rules.

I want to paint the walls and the ceiling but I don’t want plain boring white.

I cant decide if I should paint the living room and kitchen the same color (they are two separate rooms but open to each other) the kitchen has 3 large windows.

I want something nice looking, but fun and modern.

Ok before I can even start to randomly name colors there are alot of questions.

What is the flooring in the living room. What are the colors of the kitchen floor, counters and cabinets and what color shade. Is the trim in the room painted or wood.light or dark. What furniture are you planning on keeping. What style is it. What is currently covering the windows. Is you pool table the typical green felt. Are there area rugs.

Pictures and dimensions on www.flickr.com would be great too.

Perhaps a wallpaper on one long wall and then painting the rest of the room in a solid from the paper.

Ceiling tiles in a rich bronze or pewter may look great in there Personally I would keep the rooms masculine with deep colors and woods something like this http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_JAIb2O1px5Y/S8_GXwaI5BI/AAAAAAAAApc/qLdQOsjNy30/s1600/nautical+billiard+table.jpg

Wainscotting the walls will make them look rich http://www.wallpanellingcorp.com/showcase/images/recent-wall-panel-commission-1.jpg

A faux wainscotting and a rich gold above would work to lighten the room http://www.elitemouldings.com/gallery/SM5/elite%20wall%20panel%20wainscot%20and%20crown.jpg
