I accidentally swam with my iPhone 3G in a pool, HELP.
By on June 19th, 2010
On Friday, I stupidly went in my friends pool with my iPhone in my pocket. I didn’t realize it was with me underwater until about 10-15 mins later. I immediately took it out of my pocket and left in on my friends kitchen counter. Like 2hrs later, I used my friends charger to turn it on but it didn’t respond. I got home about 4.5hrs after it was in the pool. I took the simcard and simcard slot out and blowdried the phone through the simcard and charger hole for about 5 mins. I got most of the water out that I could see on the sceen. I plugged it into the charger (my sleep/power button hasn’t been working prior to the pool incident so thats why i’ve been using chargers to turn it on) and the apple appeared as if the phone was normally turning on. Then as it was turning on with the apple on the screen, it shut off. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. The same thing happened with the apple logo and it shutting off. I plugged and unplugged it over and over like 10x. Then after it sat for about an hour I tried again and it fully turned on and stayed on. It worked fine. I kept it charging overnight and in the morning it was fine. Around 5:00pm it shut off out of nowhere while i was using it’s internet. The internet page was like burned on the screen and was barely visible but it slowly faded. I tried plugging it back in but it started shutting off while it loaded with the apple on the screen and when it shuts off the apple is still visible, but barely and it fades away. It still does the same and i’ve been trying a few times each day for the past 2 days since it shut off randomly. It’s currently in a container of rice to absorb moisture because thats what it says to do online. Is there any hope for my phone. Should the rice work. I’ve had the simcard out since friday night and the phone is in the rice with the simcard and simcard slot out. Anyone know any way to help. Did I shortcircut it. Will it make it.
PLEASE HELP.
good begining to story.

As you walk up Third Street in the dreary town of Marienville in the bleak state of Wisconsin you will find an ordinary house with brown shutters; a red house with a nice door with a worn welcome mat. Everything around the house, a bed of yellow flowers, an old dog house that has never been occupied, and a basketball hoop in the driveway all point to an ordinary family home. This home, however, is no modern family living space; this home belongs to Gregory Marshall. Some see him as the peculiar old man down the street, but I see him as an interesting fellow to associate with.
Once when I was younger, my friend Julie and I wanted to go on an adventure. See, we don’t get adventure very often; we were just two thirteen-year- old girls who wanted something out of the ordinary. We went around town looking for something to do when we found our friends, Ted and Marley. Ted explained to us that they were going to break in to Mr. Marshall’s house and see what he was doing inside that house of his. It had been said before the house was haunted, and other myths said the man grew and sold drugs, but I never knew any better but to follow the boys all the way up to the back door of the red house.
Julie and I watched for neighbors as the boys gently tried to unlock the big glass doors that went into a room that looked like a kitchen from where we were. I saw someone coming, and we all hid for cover underneath the wild bushes that grew behind Mr. Marshall’s house. We jumped out and I could tell the boys had had enough. Ted grabbed a crowbar he had found in a shed and smashed through the window. We all rushed inside to check out the place.
We entered the house to smell an unusual scent, the aroma of fresh ham that must have been baked moments before we got there and a simple smell of orange cleaner would have used to clean the wooden table and the chairs. Ted and Marley, of course, were not impressed at just looking in that room; they wanted to explore. We toured his living room, his bedroom and his dinning room, but really found nothing that would point to the conspiracies Mr. Marshall was involved in.
On our way out, I noticed a doorway I hadn’t seen before. A big door with a “Do Not Enter” sign on it, painted a dismal shade of gray so that it wouldn’t be noticed. I tried to open the door but I noticed the knob hard to turn. Marley came over to help too, but it wasn’t until Ted tried to open the door did it finally budge. We pushed through the door and turned on the lights covered in cobwebs. As the light flickered above our heads, we saw something that hadn’t been previously predicted. Newspaper clippings from a hundred years ago depicting a much younger looking Mr. Marshall, and adds that all had headlines that clearly read “Dhynaghuy Saves Day,” “Dhynaghuy Defeats Evil,” “Dhynaghuy,” we all said together with a sigh. “Let’s get out of here,” Ted said. “I don’t think we want to be his next victim.” “WAIT.” Julie shouted, “I don’t think he was bad though, I think he was… was, I don’t know, Magic. no, no, I think he was a SUPERHERO.”
We were all unusually silent as we recollected previous thoughts about Mr. Marshall. What had we thought he was. Why were we so stupid to break his door. What will he do to us.
As we were turning to leave, we heard the front door squeak open. It was Mr. Marshall, the man who was formerly known as Dhynaghuy, and we had just broken into his house. “Close the door. “Hurry.” “I wonder if there is another way out of here.” We were all in shock, we never expected Mr. Marshall to be home so soon. We hushed to a whisper to discuss our options. “We could sneak out tonight when he goes to sleep,” Ted suggested. “I don’t think I can stay out that long,” I said in a worried, shaky whisper. Just then, all at the same time we got the best idea; open the door and run for it. We counted down “3….2….” BAM. That’s all we heard, and we looked up to see Mr. Marshall staring down at four shaking teenagers, us, sitting in his closet of memories. “If you wouldn’t mind, I would ask you to please leave my house.” He had a solemn expression, but he didn’t seem mad at us.
Julie started crying as we walked home that night. “I thought he was going to kill us.” she whimpered. “But he didn’t even look mad,” I told her. Ted and Marley walked together, not saying a word, but I could tell by their faces they were scared.

One or two things you absolutely HATE about your kitchen.
By on June 17th, 2010
When we first moved in ( 20 + years ago ) I thought we would be able to remodel within a few years, but with kids, pets and a new mortgage, the money was and still is, always needed somewhere else first ( especially in this economy )
Number 1 on my list is this stupid indoor outdoor carpeting ( who the hell does that . and should I pull it all up before my husband gets back into town. )
Number 2 is my pot and pan cabinet.under the counter, in a corner, only one door and its 3 feet deep by about 4 1/2 feet wide. I almost have to crawl in it to find anything, no shelf AND no light.
So what are your problems with your kitchen.come on, make me feel better by sharing =)
Lilee2k.you made me LMAO a woman after me own heart.
anyone done alot of updating to a house.
By on June 16th, 2010
I’ve got a house for sale and a serious interested party has these updates on their mind:
front porch - there is a porch there but basically it is a landing with 2 steps to the ground.
rear deck - this would be an extension built from the bay window in the dining room since that is the high point in the back wall of the house.
new roof - no roof overs, the real thing.
new kitchen cabinets - no other details known.
carpet changed to hard wood - ditto
based on contractor prices, materials, etc. what would be a ball park estimate of the above.
They plan to do all the work themselves, but I’m sure they’ll hire helpers and a pro on one thing or another. I’ve built decks, so I can see them being experienced and knowledge able to do most of it themselves.
I have the estimate they gave for the above updates but wanted to hear from some roofers, hardwood installers, someone who has done updates and maybe you didn’t do the work but you were the very interested supervisor (owner of the house) or anyone who can give me ball park figures on labor and materials.
Thanks.
can you take someones name off a lease if they are unaware.

My daughters husband kicked her out and then took her name off the lease without her concent. she has nowhere to go and thinks that he should be the one to leave. They have been married only six months and all the furniture and kitchen stuff is hers. he is mentally and physically abusive. the problem is I live over 100 miles from her so she can’t moveup here because she has legal obligations that has to keep her there.
how long and how much money did it take to build your house yourself.
By on June 14th, 2010
my boyfriend’s parents built their house themselves and it’s a nice family home now but when they started it wasn’t very big at all just basically a chipboard box with a kitchen, bedroom, and bathroom. They just brought lumber and nails and windows and etc as they went here and there until they had the small box house made and than eexpandedeach year until it was what they wanted.
I will be driving back and forth to university and my boyfriend works full time he wants to buy a small bit of land but big enough for a well, septic and etc to go on and do what they did, i’ll be working part time and full during the summers so I think we could do it but it would take a lot of work and years to do. my father is a Dry waller so I could get that done for free by him and my cousins, his family would help with labour and they did it before so they know about regulations and laws and stuff, what do you think. is it a good i dea we have been together for years now and we want to get engaged but we are waiting until I am done of school because a wedding is a lot of money so is building a house but if you buys stuff store it and pick away at it in 6 years time when i am done of school we will have something very small but something to work with and it will be a good investment to build our own and try to do as much labour as we can by ourselves or with family help. DO you think it’s a good idea. can you tell me some of your experiences with building your own home, how did you do it, how did you afford it, how long did it take. was it a good investment.

What the most clever act you’ve seen done by a dog.
By on June 12th, 2010
I was just surfing YouTube when I came across a clip of a Weimaraner getting up on it’s hind legs to open a kitchen cabinet in order to fetch itself a tub of peanut butter to snack on. I don’t believe the dog was trained to do this, I think it learned to do it on it’s own.
You know those screen doors with the handles that require you to push a button on them and then turn in order to open them. Well I heard of a cat who learned to get out by punching the button and pushing against the door.
My own bird, a parakeet (budgie), learned to escape from his cage by squeezing through the bars. It took me forever to figure out how he managed to get out without opening any doors. It wasn’t until I caught him in the act one day that I was able to put a stop to it before he got himself hurt.
Have you come across any particularly intelligent dogs, or any animals for that matter. Personal stories are always more interesting. Please share.
Boo, how did your dog try to imitate the horse. And thank you, I wish I had drawn it myself, Lol
DIY help please - concerning lighting/electricity.

One day our florescent light in the kitchen just went out all the sudden. we changed the bulbs and still no light. no we figured it was the ballast. we’ve replaced the light and still can’t get anything out of it, and we’re starting to wonder if it isn’t on issue in the ceiling or even with the switch.
We have a borrowed voltage tester and no idea how to use it.
We’ve been with out a real kitchen light for almost 2 years now. any ideas would be a huge help.
TIA.
