By on April 20th, 2010
I am about to get my home renovated and moving ahead for home redesign. I have to work on several different projects like kitchen, bathrooms and bedrooms as well. But i would like to also ask the priority of the Home Improvement Projects that should be considered first.
I’ve problem storing onions in the cabinet. It smells bad. What shall I do.
By on April 19th, 2010
Ok, I love to cook. I am not a professional but I try new things here and there. A lot of my dishes include onions. My problems is where to store onions. I can’t leave them on the balcony, they’ll rot within a day or two. I put them in a cabinet in kitchen but that cabinet smells really bad. Is there a way I can store onions without creating smell. I thought of individually wrapping them with saran wrap and put them in the fridge. Any other ideas will be welcome.
My labrador puppy.
By on April 18th, 2010
My labrador puppy 11 weeks old has starting peeing and pooing everywhere. she normaly goes outside in our garden and at night or when we are unable to let her out she goes on the puppy pads but recently she has just stopped and if we let her out in the garden she will sit out there for a good while and not go but as soon as we bring her in she will pee on the kitchen floor.
are there any factors that could be causing this. She just started doing this since my dad got sick and hasn’t been around, she had bonded with him the most. could it be she misses him, as he would sit in the garden with her, im just 16 so im at school during the day and im not there to sit with her outside.
Also i know labs chew on things any tips on how to avoid them chewing on the furniture, oh and also when my brother went to clean the cats litter box her caught her with some cat poop in her mouth. the vet said she sould be fine as she still needs her 2nd jag and we were worried she could catch something.
thanks
how about converting an electric kitchen to gas-the kitchen is in the middle of the hse.

We have a hexagon shaped house so the kitchen is right in the middle of the structure. We want (desperately) to convert the electric stove to gas. Is this a diy project or who do I contact to get an idea of cost, what type of materials etc. and what to look for before I consider this doable.thanks.
what are my options here.

In October my boyfriend and I moved a friend of his from high school into our home, because she would have ended up homeless. We have not put her on the lease and have no plans to put her on the lease, and she rents only a room, bathroom, and kitchen use from us, and that was the agreement when she moved in. Fast forward 6 months, she began dating a friend of my boyfriend. Suddenly this fourth person is staying at our home half the week, helping himself to food in our pantry, watching our Netflix and playing on our XBox in the living room that is not a shared space, he is constantly rude to our other guests, never contributes to the household, and Sunday, when they came home at midnight and woke me out of a dead sleep, and I asked them to be quiet, he laughed in my face, slammed two doors, and blasted the television for two hours.
I didn’t do anything at the time because the situation has gotten so volatile that I don’t want the roommate to feel forced to move out as it is her guest that is the problem, not her. My boyfriend has since spoken to the offender, however no apologies have been made, and our roommate has stated that she will be having him over again next week. And I do understand, that since she pays to live here, she has a right to have company over.
I just recently started a new business, so the money that she pays to rent a room from us helps right now while I am settling in and building my client base, so we don’t want to kick her out right now, especially since, in all fairness to her, it is her guest that is causing the problems. I would just spend more time out of the house, but most of my work is done from home, so I am here 24/7, she is on disability so she is here 24/7, and he has been unemployed for 5 years with no ambition to get a job (i know, a real keeper :/).
I feel trapped in this situation, any advice.
Thanks guys, I feel so silly having to ask for advice on this, but I am trying to be as diplomatic as possible as it is a delicate situation. I guess I would just feel really guilty about making her feel like her boyfriend isn’t allowed over because she had to move to a new town to live with us and doesn’t have many friends, and her family has all passed away. It is just a strange situation all around
Long, wide living room. how to decorate. furniture.
By on April 15th, 2010
We just bought a great 1950s bungalow with 1500sq ft.
The issue is- the living room (when you walk in the front door, there is a low wall to your right, which seperates the entry from the living room, and is where the TV cables are in the wall). it is about 22′ long, 12′ wide. If you put the couch against the wall, you’re literally about 22′ from the spot where the TV cables come into the house. WAY too far. We have a large overstuffed couch, love seat, 2 leather club chairs, matching retro style coffee table and side tables, a 40″ lcd tv and stand. We had a small home, and everything fit very nicely, and seemed really cozy and family friendly. Now, we have double the space, but still the same amount of furniture. We bought all our furniture new in the past 2 years, so replacing it really isn’t an option.
The living room also opens up onto the dining room (a big L shape, the small part being the dining room, so we really can’t put a dining room in the big space of the living room to fill it up. I don’t want to have a big empty spot in the middle of the room, between the TV and couch. And, I want to be able to entertain without people feeling stranded in an empty, non functional room. This room has me baffled. We move in June 1st and i’m almost having nightmares about how to go about furnishing the room, setting it up. My plan is just to stick the furniture in there and rearrange it till I’m satisfied.
Also, on the wall seperating the kitchen and living room (which SOMEDAY we want to cut a pass-thru into) I am planning on stenciling a large tree onto the wall, and hanging family photos on the tre.a family tree. and was thinking of putting the 2 club chairs against that wall with a stack of antique trunks in between them, as a table. That’s the first wall you see when you come into the house.
I was thinking about putting the couch in the middle of the room, but then it would be in the way of the nice window seat that’s there. I would love to be able to fit a home office in there somewhere. Move the couch from the wall, put a funky desk behind it, which would move the couch away from the wall and closer to the tv.
Colous will be green, grey, brown, very nature toned and calming. The room gets a TON of light. I want to make the room seem SMALLER, not larger.
Any tips.

Drawers for makeup in shops in Ireland.
By on April 12th, 2010
Does anyone know where I can get these type of drawers in Ireland (not by internet, in a shop).
http://www.spacesavers.com/3drawor.html or http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002BA5F5W/ref=asc_df_B002BA5F5W1073945.smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&tag=nextag-kitchen-delta-20&linkCode=asn&creative=380341&creativeASIN=B002BA5F5W
I can’t find them anywhere. I can only find deep narrow ones, and then everything would get stacked on top everything meaning I would forget about many products. Please help.
I’ve already checked Woodie’s DIY/ Atlantic Homecare, Art & Hobby, Argos, and the IKEA website.
P.S. It needs to only have 3 drawers.
