What are some tips for keeping an “active” house clutter-free and clean during the day.

When I say “active” I mean my husband is constantly walking in and out of the house with his fellow comrades doing whatever they need to do on the computer or washing their ACU’s with an endless track of combat boot dirt in the kitchen and living room, up the stairs and in our bedroom and the computer room LOL, the 18 month old boy in this house never sits still unless he wants to read -this kid runs laps around the kitchen and living room for run, and the dog we have is a healthy, happy, and hyper beagle who hasn’t hit 6 months yet so he includes potty messes. How do I keep my house clean during the day. I am typically doing online college work during my boy’s naps and if I’m interrupted by hubby needing to print off papers then I will have long nights getting school work done and I crash before I get any cleaning done. Are there anythings I can do to help the house look more like a home and not an abandoned garage. I work myself silly trying to keep this place clean. I can understand with the activity of this place that spotless is an option that’s far from my grasp but slightly tidy would be nice.

Well I would think number one priority is that the guys remove their boots before crossing your kitchen. Could you re-site the computer to contain the traffic to one part of the house. Or get a laptop that they could use in the kitchen. And get into the routine of ‘one room per day’ cleaning.

them boots need covering with plastic shopping bags. Keep them on a hook near the outer door to encourage disipline. start training the dog pronto with an indoor tray, or be absolutely sure he empties himself on his walks. Put the baby in a playpen (with floor) with a years supply of rag books. Every time anybody moves put a cloth or a brush in their hand. LOL. Peace and quiet.
