Do you hate new houses being built in an area with old houses.

I’m mainly talking about Melbourne in what I’m going to say.
I don’t really like new houses, they are ugly on the outside, try-hard Victorian, feel hollow and empty, are too open, cheaply built, have no eves look out dated in about ten years and have lines showing through the bricks. However, talking about money, they’re quite cheap and save on heating and cooling costs.
It annoys me that people are knocking down Art Deco, Edwardian, Victorian etc. houses which have character and build up ugly grey boxes. I mean new houses. They don’t fit in with the area that they’re put in, but you can get replicas of these kinds of houses and they’re ok in the front rooms. I think there should be a law that new houses need to stay in new housing estates and no more old houses should be knocked down, only restored.
Also, there’s a mansion going for sale in a suburb a few km out of Melbourne and there is a permit for 28 apartments. A nice, Victorian mansion which are rarely seen for sale is going to be turned into ugly apartments with a ‘modern touch’.
The only things that are good about new houses are the kitchens and bathrooms, the rest looks odd.
Who agrees with me.
