Is there a cheap way to re-do your Kitchen floor.

By on December 21st, 2009

I’m in college & don’t have the money for anything fancy, but my kitchen floor has seen better days. Is there a cheap way to make them look more modern. If so, about how much $$$ are we talking.

Is it possible to buy a slide-in camper with an interior shower.

By on December 20th, 2009

I’m considering buying a slide-in camper (the kind that attach to the back of a pickup truck). I need one that would provide the basic necessities for living (a shower, toilet, kitchen, bed, etc). I see a lot of pickup campers online that have exterior showers, like the ones you find at a beach, but nothing like the kind of shower one has in their house. Also, I’d need a camper that is both fairly small and inexpensive. Is it possible to buy something like this.
Note: I live in Northern California

Help. My new puppy poops in her crate and we can’t figure out what to do, do you have advice.

By on December 19th, 2009

We adopted a 7-week-old puppy from the shelter a few days ago. Every night she poops in her crate, everyone I talk to says that puppies won’t poop in the crate, but she sure does.

Every morning I take her out after she’s been in the crate, on average, four to five hours. There’s always poop in there, so I take her out, walk around until she pees, then I keep walking around the yard with her to give her a chance to poop and she never does. It’s really cold out in the mornings right now, so I only last about 15 minutes out there, but that should be plenty of time for her to poop. So I bring her in and give her a bath, then I play with her for a while and hold her in my lap while I check my email and such.

When it warms up a bit outside, we have a nice large yard for her to play in, and she stays out most of the day with her food and water out there, and we go out there periodically to spend time with her. I don’t know how many times she pees and poops while she’s out there.

When it starts to get dark or cold out (about 4:30) we take her in and the children play with her for a while, then the puppy stays in the kitchen where we can see her because I won’t allow a dog on my carpet or furniture. it’s easier to wash a kitchen floor than to get dog ick out of carpet and upholstery LOL.
The children take her out every half-hour to hour to go potty and they have fun running around with her outside. it amazes me how the cold doesn’t bother children when they WANT to go out. They love spending time with their puppy.

So after the children go to bed the puppy goes in her crate to sleep, because she’s not potty-trained enough to stay in the kitchen unsupervised, that will come in time (I hope.) because I don’t want to keep her in the crate any more than she needs to be in there. My husband or I take her back out before we go to bed, usually to find she has pooped in the crate after only a half hour or, so we have to clean the crate out again and put her back in, then I wake up a few hours before the rest of the family and take her out in the morning and start the cycle all over again after finding she has pooped in her crate yet again.

Why does everyone tell me that a puppy won’t poop where it sleeps. She’s only in the crate at night because we can’t let her have free roam of the kitchen yet, and when we went to the grocery store we put her in there for the same reason. She does not spend an excessive amount of time in the crate, and we take her out to potty at least every half hour to hour during the day, never more farther apart than 4-5 hours overnight.

Please help with any good advice you can give.
Oh, when she poops in the crate she gets it all over the crate and herself. Is it okay for her to have a bath or two every day.
Dona, there is a huge difference between a puppy and a child. Besides, most parents use playpens, isn’t that the equivalent of a crate for a puppy.

(I have never used a playpen for any of my children. But a dog is not a child.)

Does anyone have pictures of kitchens w/ vaulted ceilings.

By on December 18th, 2009

I am trying to get design ideas on how to vault my kitchen ceiling. The kitchen is 11x 21′ and is adjacent to my living room. There is a support beam separating the entrance between the kitchen and the living room and I am not interested in changing that. If anyone has pictures of examples I would love to see them.

Try to analyze the data you collected in the lab. Can anyone tell me about their results in terms of gr.

By on December 17th, 2009

In this lab, you will conduct an experiment to test the effect of parachute size on the rate at which a “skydiver” falls through the air. Specifically, you will compare the terminal speed of an object with three different parachute sizes. You will do this by constructing three parachutes. One will be 10 inches by 10 inches, one will be 20 inches by 20 inches, and the third one will be 30 inches by 30 inches. You will attach an egg to each parachute. You will then drop each egg and its parachute from a given height and observe which egg reaches the ground first. You will describe your results in terms of gravity and air resistance.

Materials:
Lightweight plastic garbage can liners
Scissors
Ruler
3 sandwich bags
12 20-inch lengths of light string
3 uncooked eggs
A stopwatch or timer

Experimental Design:
1. From a lightweight plastic kitchen garbage-can liner, cut out three squares. Make one
square 10”x 10”, a second square 20” x 20”, and a third square 30” x 30”.
2. Make a parachute out of each square by tying a piece of string to each corner of the
square. You can do this by making small holes in the corners of the parachutes and tying
the strings through the holes. Then attach the other ends of the strings to a plastic
sandwich bag in the same way. The sandwich bags will become a sort of container for
your eggs, so attach the strings such that the bags are open and the open end faces the
top of the parachute.
3. Place an egg in each of the sandwich bags.
4. With your eggs in hand, stand on top of something about 10 feet high. Flatten out the first
parachute so it is square and parallel to the ground. Drop the egg and its parachute from
a height of about 10 feet. Be sure to be safe when you do this and you probably want to
do it outside to avoid any messes indoors. If your environment does not permit you to do
the experiment outdoors, line a hard-surfaced floor with newspaper or garbage can liners
to minimize the mess of the broken eggs. Use the timer to record the amount of time in
seconds that it takes the egg to reach the ground. Repeat steps 1-4 for each egg.

Question (10 points):
Try to analyze the data you collected in the lab. Can anyone tell me about their results in terms of gravity and air resistance. How did the two forces act on each egg and how air resistance varied for each egg.

Review my short Italian pharagraph. :D Please.

This is third year highschool Italian, and I have to memorize 4 more of these for class, so it’s pretty basic >.< What I’m trying to say is.

This is my kitchen. It is not big and not small, but very comfortable. The kitchen is new with yellow and pink walls, a white floor, modern pictures, and a new television. In the kitchen is the oven, the microwave, the stove, the fridge, the sink, the table, and the cabinets. In this room, I can cook foods and eat at the table with my family.

my question is, can i just go to a home improvement store and buy a replacement, are they in universal sizes, or do they come in all sorts of sizes and fits.

What would be the best replacement for my Ideal Mexico 2 boiler.

By on December 13th, 2009

I have an old (maybe 15 years) Ideal Mexico 2 (model number inside the top flap appears to be an Ideal Mexico 2 RS75P), Propane/LPG fuel with heat input of 29.8kW (101.5BTu) and heat output of 22.7kW (77.5BTu). It has become increasingly costly to run, presumably as its efficiency drops, plus of course modern boiler design has moved on masses in the intervening period.

The current boiler is floor standing, but there is no absolute need for a floor standing replacement though it would be marginally more convenient.

I need to find a Sedbuk A replacement if possible with perhaps a little more oomph than the current boiler which struggles to keep everything warm during the coldest spells in my 4 bed detached house in a rural location (with planned conservatory, floor area approaches 2000sq ft (185m2).

I am assuming that a condensing boiler is going to be the way to go, but am unsure what make or model to consider. I have a kitchen, family bathroom and downstairs shower room for hot water demand on top of pressed steel radiator heating.
pipe strangler, I do live in the middle of nowhere - rural location in North Essex near Suffolk border - no town gas anywhere near.
BTW someone else suggested a weather compensator - anyone got any views on the effectiveness of these.
Thanks for answers so far.
Hi Turdy Malurdy,

Any idea what kind of cost the alpha system is.

why is my wireless internet connection running so slow.

By on December 12th, 2009

I don’t really know any of the technical stuff so I will try and explain the best i can. We have a linksis wireless router, it was running fine until about a week ago when it just stopped working. we actually thought our internet had been turned off, then yesterday we discovered it was working again, only it is running extremely slow. we watch alot of tv online since we don’t get american cable over here in germany and the videos take FOREVER to load now, and even if they are completely loaded, they time out constantly, but the videos arn’t the only problem, the entire connection is running slow. we restarted our computer, we tried disconnecting and reconnecting to the connection, we tried everything we could think of, we even ran the virus tests and all that good stuff and there is nothing like that going on. We finally decided to try and just unhook the wireless router and just just use the internet cable and it ran much faster, we didnt have any problems at all, but our only internet hook up is in our kitchen and its really inconvenient for us to have our computer hooked up in there, especially considering we don’t have a kitchen table or anything, how do i fix this problem. like i said, we never had a problem with it until a week ago. and please keep any advice in “blond” terms lol, i am not stupid but i really dont understand internet and computer lingo to well THANK YOU.
we aren’t downloading anything, all of the videos we watch are streaming, and we have all five bars strong for signal strength, it says that there is no problem when we run a diagnose and repair, and like i said, when we hook the computer directly into the internet with a cable it runs just fine, it loads pages and videos in mere seconds, the problem we are having is strictly with the wireless connection, we are just trying to figure out how to fix it.
