You could get them stripped cleaned and greased etc but they look like quite an old tap so not really worth the bother so get new fitted they are not necessarily expensive

the washer go in taps quite a lot

a washer is a rubber ring that seals a tap when turned off

it sounds like the handle, the plastic casing any way, has worn down, try pulling it off and reattaching it.

nope.its the washers. standard size from wilko. 3/8inch for sinks and 5/8inch for baths.59p or 79p respectively. next thing.turn off the water mains.this will be in the bathroom or the kitchen. run all taps until dry.now.here is the tricky bit.get the heads off the taps.yep then you will se the problem.do not be dissuaded.there will still be a little water coming out. use whatever spanner required to remove all metal bits until you find .”the washer”. it’s that little piece of rubber that you got from wilko.put the new one in .put everything back and turn the water back on.it is not easy peasy but is easily doable, mark

Your taps look like mine. they too had problems, the white “knob” would not turn properly (either on or off) I went to B & Q and brought two new tap tops, these ones are designed to replace tap tops, they look like hospital taps, with a lever to push sideways, no knob to turn, they don’t have a washer but “Ceramic discs” which don’t wear out. About 10 mins to change each one. really good.
