Product to cover a kitchen cabinet door.

By on November 22nd, 2009

I recently saw a product on a DIY TV program which was a roll of coloured sticky back plastic which you peel off and use to cover kitchen cabinet doors with, instead of painting them. Does anyone know what this product is called. I can’t seem to find it anywhere.

I am not sure how long this kind of plastic would stand up to daily use. The edges would quickly become frayed.
You can get a primer that you can use on cabinet doors and then paint them.

Fablon or a similar type of product is available from diy stores, but we would never recommend it for kitchen units - it just won’t stand up to the wear and tear that a kitchen unit door has to take, especially if you have to clean grease from it. It isn’t the easiest thing to appy, and once you’ve put it on it is notoriously difficult to remove. Go online and get advice about re-painting the doors - you’ll get a far better finish and it’ll last a lot longer.
