My kitchen is small, has dark gray laminte (not wood) cabinets and a speckled gray/white and black formica counter top. The ceramic tile floor is peach/beige. What color should I paint the walls to tone down the dark gray cabinets. The cabinets have a “cool tone” while I prefer warm tones as the rest of the house has like browns, yellows and oranges.

Cream to light beige would be warm yet allow the grey cabinets to stand out nicely.

Go to this site and see what colors go with dark gray:

Type in dark gray for the color and choose the one closest to your cabinet color. Choose a living room scene and color the sofas the dark grey. It will show 2 coordinating colors to use and drag those to the walls and trim. The kitchen scenes don’t allow for changing cabinet colors so use the living room one.

I would go with just simple crisp white, because gray and white totally go together making your kitchen look open (trust me) since you’re saying you have a small kitchen, but if you don’t want it more open you could go with beige and cream or even red to make a contrast as there have been red and gray cabinets plus it looks modern —-> http://www.ikeafans.com/galleries/images/73583/large/1_cabinets_1.jpg & http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/uimages/kitchen/2009_01_26-RedKitchen.jpg
