Do you think I’m being selfish.

By on August 11th, 2009

I’ve been wanting a new desk for about a year now. We couldn’t find anything at the time, so I got an old desk from my dad’s work. Today I learned that my 8 year old sister is getting a NEW desk. I found one I liked online and if I said I liked it my dad would probably say no. The desk I have right now is not even the same color as my desk chair. I am in eighth grade and have a ton of homework each night. My little sister will not use her desk at all. She does all of her homework at the kitchen table. I am really upset right now since I’ve been wanting a desk for a while and I feel like my dad loves my sister more. He’s always telling her about stuff and showing her stuff but he rarely talks to me :( Do you think I’m being selfish.

Help with this algebra two please.

Equipment: Tape Measure

Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to practice multiplying, dividing, adding, and subtracting polynomials with a purpose in mind. I know this business trip will take valuable time, but it does review all concepts in this module, and it is worth 20 points. If you take your time and do it properly, it will help raise your grade. For the company, the purpose here is to preview some possible living space for its employees.

The formulas that you will need are perimeter equals the sum of twice the length and twice the width (P=2L+2W), and area equals the product of the length and the width (A=LW).

Procedure:

Part 1: Using your knowledge of polynomial addition and subtraction (combining like terms), answer the following questions. Write your work and answers in the Assignment Area labeled Part 1.

Find entire length of this two bedroom apartment in terms of x.

Find the entire width of this two-bedroom apartment a (not counting the patio) in terms of x. (Be careful, the width of bath 1 is not given, but the width of the entry is the same as the width of the pantry. With that information, you can find the width of the left hand side of the house.)

Part 2: Using your knowledge of the distributive property and polynomial addition and subtraction, answer the following questions. (Remember, P=2L+2W.) Write your answers in the same assignment labeled Part 2.

Find the perimeter of the entire 2-bedroom apartment (excluding the patio) in terms of x.

Find the perimeter of the living room and dining room in terms of x.

Find the perimeter of the master bedroom, excluding the sitting area and the closets.

Part 3: Using your knowledge of solving linear equations, answer the following questions. Write your work and answers in the same assignment labeled Part 3.

If the perimeter of the living room and dining room is 60 feet, what is the value of x.

If the perimeter of the master bedroom excluding the sitting area and the closets is 42 feet, what is the value of x.

If the length of the entire apartment is 57 feet, what is the value of x.

Part 4: You have reviewed polynomial multiplication and division in this module, practice now. (Remember, A=LW.)

Find the area of the entire living room/dining room.

Find the area of the patio.

Find the area of the entire apartment (excluding the patio). Note: don’t forget to subtract for the cutout area in the upper left corner.

If the area of the kitchen was 2x-4, what would be the width. Write the expression or number for the width.

If the area of the dining room and living room is 300 sq. ft., what is the equation that would be used to solve for x. Write the equation with zero on the right, ready to solve.

If the area of the entire apartment is 800 sq. ft., what is the equation that would be used to solve for x. Use the length and width from questions 1 and 2. Do not worry about the area of the patio or the corner that is cut out of the living room/dining room. Write the equation with zero on the right, ready to solve.

Part 5:

Find the area of your bedroom, Label it A. Using the dimensions of the Master Bedroom in Figure 1, Write an equation using (x + 8) as length- L and (2x – 3) as the width-W and the actual area you found for your room-A. Manipulate the equation so that it is set equal to zero, in the form: ax2+ bx + c = 0. DO NOT SOLVE.

Help. My gf wanted a surprise proposal so I pounced her and now she isn’t moving.

By on August 9th, 2009

My girlfriend of two years has been expecting a proposal from me for a while now and she wanted it to be complete surprise. As she put it, “I want it to come out of nowhere.”. So I bided my time and waited for the right opportunity.

Before she got home from work today, I put on my favorite navy hoodie and perched on top of my fridge and let out a few anticipatory growls as I was very excited. When she came in the door and went to get some milk, I leaped off the fridge and let out a piercing scream. As I landed on her with a massive thud, I screamed “WILL YOU MARRY ME.” as I beat the box containing the ring against her ribcage over and over again.

At first, all she screamed was “GET IT OFF ME. GET IT OFF ME.” so I knew I had done well with the surprise part cause she didn’t even seem to realize it was me. But after a few minutes of incessant pounding, I realized she wasn’t saying anything anymore, let alone answering the big question.

She let out a faint “It hurts.” and mumbled something about seeing nothing but black and white so I thought “Oh shit.” and I immediately ran to find a bottle of pills. The closest one was in the kitchen cabinet, so I grabbed some pills and began stuffing the bottle of Omega-3 capsules down her mouth. Her response was nothing but some muffled gurgling. I thought maybe I had grabbed the wrong bottle of pills so I proceeded to try every bottle I had in the house.

When that didn’t work, I figured this was pretty bad so I grabbed the first aid kit from the bathroom. I quickly wrapped one of her arms and one of her legs in bandages and gave her some pats on the back. Still nothing. I’m at a loss here, help please.

Please read this, I am going insane.

I am in trouble and I don’t know what to do about it. I need help but I feel guilty about asking my family and few friends that I have to help me because this is more of a long-term problem. While I explain my situation please do not judge me or ask what my husband and I were thinking - because I don’t have an answer and I could never have guessed that the choices we made would create so many problems for me.in short, I thought I could handle it. So here is the deal:

I have 3 sons, my oldest is going to be 3 years old in a couple weeks, my middle is 1 and a half years old, and my youngest is barely 1 month old. We recently moved from a tiny apartment due to the fact that we were running out of space and the kids couldn’t play in the tiny yard because the landlord was a b*tch and didn’t like children. So we moved just 1 week after my newest was born.into a garage. We were able to find a beautiful piece of land with a nice garage and a dumpy (and I mean DUMPY) house on it. The yard is perfect - it’s huge and we put up a chain link fence before we even moved here so that the kids could play without me having to worry about them running into the road. But right now my husband is gutting the house and we are finding problems with the structure and SO many other problems that we couldn’t have known until we started gutting it. We’re starting to see that it is going to take at least a year to do the majority of the work. right now we are camping out in our garage and it is killing me. I am a control and clean “freak”. I can’t stand messes and everything has to be sanitized before I will touch it or let the kids touch it. So right now my husband is trying to finish the living room, kitchen and bathroom before winter (we live in WI, so we NEED to be in the house before winter since there is no running water out here in the garage and the hose will freeze), but there is SO MUCH that needs to be done in order for the living room, kitchen and bathroom to be finished, or at least livable. I am so stressed out I feel like I am going to lose it at any moment. My oldest son is controlling like me and is constantly bossing around his brother, and my middle son has this terrible habit of sticking his hand down his pants to feel the warmth of his pee. It makes me sick and I have no idea how to break him of this habit. I have tried putting his full-length pj’s on backwards just so he can’t get access to his diaper, but it is really hot and I can’t keep him in his pj’s all day because he will get way over heated. My baby is a little colicky - not bad - but it’s enough to stress me out because it adds to the noise level - which is just constantly high. If they all aren’t screaming at least one of them is having a problem and crying or fighting or stealing a toy etc. Plus we have 2 pups that I thought would help distract the kids and keep them busy during the day but instead it is adding to the stress of my life because they jump up on the kids. They are very small dogs, but they are also a little hyper.

Oh, and my husband is gone from 8 - 5 at his job, and I am home alone with the kids all week. So now that you have a general view of my life, what can I do to fix some of my problems. I need ideas of how to deal with my kids fighting, my oldest being controlling, my middle being gross etc. I am so stressed out and I think I am dealing with some post partum depression too. Like I said, I can’t ask my family for help, they are always busy and I feel guilty asking them for help, especially since just one day of them helping isn’t going to really do much good. I can’t afford a babysitter, and I just need help with ideas on how to manage my life better before I go insane. Thank you.

Stainless steel overflow vent cap for dishwasher.

By on August 6th, 2009

We’re remodeling our kitchen and are about to have granite and new sink installed. The old “vent cap” is white and plastic, to match the old faucet and sink. We’re putting in stainless steel.

Do the home improvement stores sell these caps separately. The sink didn’t come with anything, and we haven’t purchased the faucet yet.

tell me about washer dryers.

By on August 5th, 2009

Please tell me about washer dryers if you are using at home. I am redesigning my kitchen. To save space, I would like to use a washer dryer rather than a washing machine and a tumbled dryer. What are the disadvantages of washer dryers compared to the separate things.

Food-safe wood sealer for chopping board.

By on August 4th, 2009

Hey, we just finished remodeling the kitchen and installed new sliding cutting boards for the under-counter cabinets. The milled pine boards (9″W x 24″L x 1/2″ thick) are still unfinished and I’m looking for a sealer that is safe for contact with food. I have counter-top cutting boards, but like having a clean counter. Anybody know of a product that can do this.

Plumbing - Pipe size and water pressure - yup, it’s me again.

By on August 2nd, 2009

Hot water is working fine - thanks for your help on that. Since I got such a great response on that - I’ll try another.

I got this bank foreclosure 3+ years ago with no working appliances, barely an infrastructure, well and plumbing issues. It looks like a ranch, but technically it was a single wide trailer set on a beautiful foundation crawl space, that was widened in the back, the roof removed and replaced by a pine Cathedral type ceiling, and then a second unit added (on cement slab), and a two car garage. So I’m dealing with a combined second unit, part trailer infrastructure (plastic piping & hoses), part “house” infrastructure (copper).

The well had problems and its pump was clogged, screen shot, and it brought all kinds of crap into the house. DEP had two tall filters in here to clean up an oil tank spill from the previous owner. Those tanks were absolutely clogged with crap within a year, which was unheard of.
I lost cold water to the kitchen, the shower and tub barely have any pressure on the trailer side of the unit.
So last fall, the tanks were removed, the water pump was replaced, and raised a few feet out of the muck, and water is running in clean again. But there was a lot of muck coming through. Still no cold water in the kitchen, barely any hot water, no bath pressure in the trailer side. It is clear that there is one feed to these three areas that must be clogged.

I know its common to blow the hoses through (not copper piping on this side), yet they are so clogged and tiny, I am considering replacing these hoses, but am wondering that if I go up an eighth of an inch in diameter, will that potentially increase or decrease the pressure.

What I’m thinking of doing is to remove one of these hoses going to the tub, and the connection system that feeds three areas, bring it to Lowe’s, replace those exactly the same size, but also get one hose slightly larger in diameter so I can try it out before replacing the other hoses.

I am on an EXTREMELY limited budget - officially broke, so I’d appreciate some creative &”elbow grease” type of suggestions. I have some decent tools, but with school starting in a month, I need to bite off only what I can chew so that we have water. We’ve had to go long enough stretches without it. Not good for kids.

Thanks for taking the time to read this, I’d appreciate any opinions - yes, I know, I need a plumber. Can’t get anyone out for small or budget jobs.
