How can I turn make a modern table look vintage.

I found a perfect kitchen table for my apartment. The only problem is it is a bit more modern than I would like. The base is a stark white and I am looking for any ideas on how I can make it more vintage or “used” looking. I was thinking light sandpaper on the legs but am unsure as the paint is a high gloss. Any help is appreciated.

Hit the edges with sandpaper enough to expose the bare wood. What you are aiming for is to remove paint from places that would over time be bumped against or in contact with surfaces and passing traffic to demonstrate wear and tear. If this does not distress the table enough, you can also push a darker paint (raw umber works really well for distressing) into any detail in the wood although modern design usually doesn’t have intricate detailing. Rubbing off the edges will get you closer to what you want, for sure.
