Can I stain my concrete subfloor and use it as the “main” floor.

By on July 28th, 2009

My fiancee and I are remodeling our kitchen. Currently, there is a vinyl brick design that is laid over the concrete subfloor. We both like the look of stained concrete, so we were wondering if we could just rip up the vinyl, clean the concrete, and then stain it and use it as the main floor. If anybody has done this, please let us know. Also, how much did it cost or did you do it yourself. Thanks.

Yes, you can do that. They make a special stain for just that purpose. Area rugs thrown here and there would make it look welcoming.

look around at epoxy flooring it has come a long way thinking about using it in my kitchen,
Beware– if you try DIY, it can be very tricky do lots of research before you try it yourself, one of the issues you can not mix large batch because the chemical process to hardened it starts when you mix it, so you need to spread it quickly and carefully. Good luck, and do the reseach about the thickness have fun— good luck
