You do it just like you do a piece of furniture. But it is a big, messy job to do this. so big and so messy that it is rarely done. Painting is always a good choice. but if you really do want to stay with a wood finish, go to a place that sells cabinets and talk to them about refacing the cabinets. it will be a loot more expensive than refinishing them, but a lot less expensive than replacing them.
