		<description>First, there&#8217;s 4 types of lighting - ambient, task, accent, and decorative.

You need to decide what types of lighting you need.  From the sounds of it, you need adjustments on ambient or task.  If it&#8217;s too bright, downgrade your bulbs to lower wattage bulbs.  If that still doesn&#8217;t tone it down, get yourself a dimmer(s).  They&#8217;re easy to swap out if you know the basics of electrical wiring.  Dimmers are great.  They lower power consumption while getting you the exact amount of light depending on the day.</description>
