I live in Montreal, Qc. I have been complaining my land lord to fix my stove and a kitchen cabinet door fr over 2 months. Its more of this new janitor than the land lord. I am thinking abut not to pay the rent till they come and fix my Kitchen cabinet and stove. If I don’t pay the rent should I be Liable to any legal risk. OR WHAT SHOULD I DO> PLs advise.Thanks.

Yes you would be at legal risk. file a complaint against the landlord association with him

You could talk to them and say that if the problem is getting the time to fix it then you will call someone on your own and just take the bill off the rent. Make sure you have a contract with them first saying this was how you and him are going to solve the problem.

i’m a landlord and sometimes i’ve no extra money to repair rentals and the tenants will repair “things” themselves . i’ll give them a break in the rental fee if they discuss the issue nicely with me prior.

best to stay on the good side of the building owner, send them a letter, keep a copy, write what is broken and you will have it repaired. SEnd a copy of the repairs to the owner.

i understand wanting the stove repaired , i enjoy cooking , yet i don’t understand why you can’t repair the cupboard door yourself, there is a natural wear and tear while your living within the residence that you could take care of yourself.
