AC Noise after quiet hours.

I’m dealing with a 2 month new upstairs studio neighbor that has installed an AC unit in the last 2 days. They have taken to running the thing all night. Our units are less than 400 sq. ft. I let them know it was causing a noise issue last night yet they are running all night again tonight. after I let them know at 1 AM last night they said they would shut it off. It was installed and running by 7 PM. It was not that hot yesterday and even cooler today. Last night or early Friday Morning I went up and let them know it was and issue We are the only 2 studios in an 11 unit complex and they are the only ones who have done this. They failed to turn it off and after I banged on my ceiling 1 TIME about 30 minutes later. They called the cops on me. When I saw him drive in I asked him who he was looking for and it was me. Freeking unreal. After I go up and try to talk to them first. I was nice though annoyed, he actually said to me,”You can hear it.” I had already let him know that I could hear and clearly make out his words during the many multiple hour cell calls he’s had over my head, and he’s clueless to the notion that an AC unit running at 1 AM is going to be noticeable.
I had notified the managers when I saw them bringing the unit in. They planned to install it in the front of the unit which would have blocked a part of the upstairs walkway. I didn’t think mgmt. would have okay’d this. Workers claimed they did. It wouldn’t fit so they put it in back in the kitchen area where I had already had to move my bed to get away from the noise. I live by stairs and the laundry room, driveway etc. It being a studio. I moved my bed to the back area where the bulk of bedrooms are thinking I’d have some quiet because of the design. Now they put the AC unit right over my head. This is an old building the new tenents are aware of the lack of any sound insulation. They know I sleep away from them.in the back. The flooring cracks loudly and they walk heavy. Now I have no place at all to get a peaceful night sleep. I think the unit should fall under quiet hours rules and can’t understand why they insist on running it all night even when it’s not hot outside. We have another apt building less than 15 feet away from us. There is only one unit there with an AC unit like theirs it’s smaller and it covers a 2 bedroom apt. I have notified mgmt. that it had arrived let them know it was being installed w/out permission and complained that it was causing a noise issue. I have no where else to sleep at any time that is quiet unless they choose to shut it off, now. the people across the way have even shut their windows due to these inconsiderate A-holes. I need to know what I can do I have no where else to try to get some sleep. I have always tryed to be considerate and always extend myself to avoid issues like these. Hell I wear earphones if I watch movies late at night because I don’t want to disturb them just knowing how this place is and these people don’t get a shit. Oh did I mention the massage chair they use right over my work desk that makes my desk vibrate when they turn it on. They didn’t have a clue about that being an issue in an upstairs apt either. I guess the idea of common sense has never been introduced to them. There is no mgr on site, I have let the new people know how lacking this place is as far as soundproofing. I am disabled and can’t even get the he11 away from them. Even getting up the stairs to state the obvious last night was annoying because with the info I already gave them it was a no brainer that the noise would be and issue especially during the night. During the day I don’t give a F@#$ but gees who needs to run AC all night or even air from such a noisy appliance. There is no noise ordinance for something like this. I have been her for almost 4 years and moving for a laid off disabled person is not any option. I am actively trying to find a new career AGAIN with in less than 2 years to go with my new disability and it really sucks to have any extra BS right now.

If they aren’t breaking any rules there’s nothing you can do. If they are it’s up to the management to handle it. As far as walking around and the floor is creaking, it’s an old building so it’s going to happen. I know you said you can’t move but you need to live where there is no one living above you.
