I agree that mounting it on the wall is a good idea, but if you already have the tv, and it’s not a flat screen, I would start looking at furniture that is not intended as a tv unit. Find a buffet table, maybe a streamlined computer desk (without a hutch), a modern pub table, and set the tv on that. It might not be hidden, but you could then hang some floating shelves in a haphazard way next to the tv (not on top, you don’t want it to look like you are framing your tv set) and put decor on them that matches your kitchen. Think of it as open shelving for your kitchen. A streamlined kitchen cart might be a good idea, it would give you a place to put your dvd player, cable box, etc under neath it. Then place some decor item next to the tv that matches your theme.

If you want to splurge have the company who did the cabinetry come out and do a custom build.

Tvs can be put behind special mirrors, down inside cabinetry of flat counter tops just about anywhere.

Some can be ordered with your choice of framing or framed to match existing materials.

Edit : for got to mention perhaps a projection system.

The link i provided is just one of many companies, other price ranges with good quality is available on the market.
