Fire prevention in home- children’s worksheet.
By on February 8th, 2009
Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a worksheet online which has the picture of a room, generally the kitchen or the living room, where the children then have to identify the fire hazards in the room. Eg. exposed wires, cigarette butt lying around etc.
Thanks in advance.

how do you make brandy out of wine without professional tools.
By on February 6th, 2009
I know the concept is simple: boil the wine, let the steam condense, let that flow into a container, and right there u have brandy with over 40% vol. But how would i do that with just the normal kitchen accessories.
(don’t worry, im not an alcoholic but am into alternative medicine, of which the making requires high percentage alcohol)
pls dont just tell me to buy it, im looking for a specific answer.
thank you all.

Paint color suggestions.
By on February 5th, 2009
I’m getting ready to paint my main level. I have an open floor plan with my kitchen, dining area, and family room all open together. I want some new fresh colors, with maybe a kitchen accent wall and family room with another accent wall, with a basic neutral color on the other walls. I have burgundy leather furniture and oak cabinets and cream painted/maple mantle. We’re putting in oak flooring. Ideas please.
Would you pay for this service if so how much.

Hi,
I am a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom designer an have been for the last 15 years, Ive worked for DIY companies, independent retailers and was a partner in a kbb business that failed after 5yrs due to overheads and selling mid to high end projects in a lower to mid end demographic area.
I have all the CAD software for computerized planning, pricing and presentation and all the contacts for supply if the client requires me to supply goods etc to them at lower than retail prices as I wouldn’t have the over heads of a shop etc.
I have access to some great installers in and around the area and again I could just supply the client with an estimate for them to shop around with.
Having worked in various outlets I see and hear people struggle with things like:-
* DIY store expects clients to bring in a detailed plan and doesn’t check measure for them.
* DIY store has online or in-store CAD system the clients can use to plan their kitchen.
* Spend hours, days, weeks and months getting quotes from a few to lots of companies.
* Sit through hard and soft selling technique presentations at home.
I could go on but I won’t,
The question is if you were to have your very own designer who worked for you and not a company , gave you all the right advice and listened to your wants and needs, spent hours on finding your product, planning and designing and gathering all the installation estimates etc put it all together in a compact spiral bound consultation pack.
A) Would this be something you would pay for.
B) How much would you expect to pay for it.
My intention is to build a web based business offering this service.
I appreciate your comments people.
How would you use a large kitchen wall to organize your stuff.
By on February 3rd, 2009
I have a small galley kitchen with only a few cabinets and just one (one.) drawer. But I have lots of kitchen items to store, many of which are in a pantry area on chrome wire shelves.
In the kitchen itself, I do have a wall about 10 feet long suitable for organizing stuff on. I’m considering two organizing options: a pegboard or a rod system.
Here’s the basic pegboard idea: http://www.designspongeonline.com/2007/08/peg-board-project.html
Here’s the basic rod system idea: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/series/08006/
So, my question: Have you tried either of these ideas — or something altogether different — to organize your kitchen gadgets and other hangy things. Which do you think is more appealing.
Due to the narrow layout of the kitchen (galley style), I am looking to make use of the wall itself. no islands, no shelves (I have some of those up high), nothing that gets in the way of my limited floor space. primarily just looking to use the wall as an organizing tool for things that can hang on it or be placed on it somehow. thanks.
Need some help with a beer tap.
By on February 2nd, 2009
I am trying to run a beer tap in my Kitchen counter. The Kitchen counter is 1″ granite. Every beer tower I have seen mounts using screws which would be impossible in my application. I have seen a euro style tower which mounts like a kitchen faucet but it was almost $400. Anyone have any other ideas.
Which should I place first: splash back or cooktop.

We are renovating our kitchen (DIY style) and we are not sure whether to place splash back (kitchen tiles) or cook top first. We need some expert advice with reliable and valid sources. Thank you
