My mother had a black floor. It was stunning when it was clean, but it never was. She didn’t have black counter tops - I think with light cabinets it could be really cool. I have a black tiled kitchen island and I can dust it and 5 minutes later it looks like I didn’t touch it at all. I am putting a table cloth on it. We resolved it by using the black granite counter tops and a wood floor with a black granite floor in the adjacent hallway-it turned out beautiful .maybe something like this can work for you. another suggestion is to alternate black and alternate color to make a check floor-or to put in an alternate color to make a border pattern with the black-or even vise-versa I recently had this dilemma with a client- its what she requested and as a designer i had to steer her in a different direction. That means that it is highly possible that you will continually knock things off your countertops because your mind it tricking you to think that the countertop extends where it does not. Also, granite floor can be very slippery in an area with a lot of water.
