I have all of the stuff packs and exp packs. I don’t know that the stuff packs are completely worth it, however there are some great items in them and I enjoy the game enough to buy them all and play them. I get worried downloading objects or games into my computer so I prefer to spend the money and be sure I’m safe. A friend of mine did the downloading route and her computer started crashing every time she played and they could never determine why. I think every expansion pack is worth the money though. University and Open for Business are great but I enjoy Free Time more because really adds a lot in the way of game play and Sim interactions and such. You’ll need University for the cell phones I believe. Sims 3 will be so much cooler but will also take a lot more to run it. So I’m not counting on getting that until I’m fed up with Sims2 or I am ready to upgrade the computer I just bought less than a year ago.

Don’t buy The Sims Stuff packs. You can download thousands of professional objects, clothing, cars, etc. for free. Just google “The sims 2 objects download” Some of the packs are well worth buying.

About the missing objects.
You need to have The sims 2 University in order to have the bending machines. You need to have The sims 2 Seasons in order to have the old issue clothing. etc.

The sims 2 Bon Voyage and newer packs disables the censor cheat because of legal issues EA games was having over the Teen ratting. If they didn’t disable it the game would become rated M (Mature). There are modifications/patches that enable it:
http://www.fileplanet.com/189525/180000/fileinfo/The-Sims-2—Censor/No-intro-patch
But please keep in mind that major user made mods/patches for The Sims 2 are made for specific expansion packs, if you use it incorrectly it could break your game.

The cell phones are available in the University expansion. They can be bought from a kiosk which are in nearly every publc building on campus or you can use a cheat. To do this, open the cheat window in the neighborhood view (hold down CTRL-SHIFT-C) and type in ‘boolProp TestingCheatsEnabled true’. Then go to you Sims, hold down SHIFT and click on them. A list of cheats will come up and you can select ‘give cell phone’. Torrents are illegal and I suggest not using them. The uncensor cheat was fixed with later versions of the game. Not all of the Sims expansions are good. I suggest picking a few that you really want. If you want new clothes, hair, etc. find a site like http://modthesims2.com/ that offers tons of legal user-created items for free.

If you have the sims 2 pets, the censor cheat is now invalid. I don’t know what double deluxe includes, but that’s the one that removed it. I think the cell phone came with either university or nightlife, but I can’t remember. We have them all and I know we have it available. It’s usually at a small kiosk like the video games or at the counter. I know the MP3 player was added after the cell phone was. From doing a little bit of research it looks like cell phones were introduced in University. I rather like college. We just got apartment life, so I haven’t really gotten much of a chance to try it out. By the way, depending on what country you live in torrents are illegal, in the US they are. It’s a hefty fine if you get caught, same as piracy. Might as well just buy them and save yourself the trouble.
