How to ask for more money when working for a neigbor.

By on October 9th, 2008

I’m not sure I asked that correctly, but the deal is I am a caregiver for a neighbors elderly mother, When I was hired I was asked to come in daily from 9am-noon and assist with meal preparation, make her bed, keep her room clean, and assist her to walk, and they offered me this and allow me to bring my daughter to work (12 months)

Now she told me other than to maintain her mothers addition to home (living room, bedroom and bathroom), I would need to do dthe dishes in the ‘main house’, and vacuum floors in main living room and that was okay.

The problem lies here, they are now having me clean their bathroom, clean their formal, and informal living rooms, formal.informal didning rooms, washing windows, cleaning kitchen, polishing furniture, washing walls and all that.

All for $10/hour, the same pay as I agreed to for being the caregiver, oh and they changed the hourse to 10am to 1pm, which works not as good for me.

How to choose Room divider curtain.

By on October 7th, 2008

Hi,

I live in a studio apartment with very very old kitchen appliances and Ebony color cabinets. I wanted to shield the bad view of the kitchen from the living space and installed a brown curtain rod (12ft length) at a height of 7ft from carpeted floor. The side walls are cream color painted but one wall is brick. The other area of the room is modern with lake view balcony. I like modern style, warm look. Please help me answer the following questions.
1) What height of the curtain is perfect. 7ft, which brings it all the way to the floor.
2) What color to choose. It has to be clean in the day as well as romantic(yep for special occasions :) )in the night preferably with yellow lamp lighting. Personally I like red. Will it work.
3) What kind of fabric to choose.
4) Plain or design.

Thanks,
Krish.

Set among the crystal clear lakes and flowing waterways of the prestigious Jumeirah Lakes Towers development in Dubai, my ideal house redefines affordable luxury. Located strategically on Sheikh Zayed Road, my house is situated in close proximity to some of Dubai’s famous sports, leisure and recreational facilities including Emirates Golf Club, The Montgomerie and several luxury beach resorts. Prestigious landmarks such as the Burj Al Arab and the eighth wonder of the world, the Palm Jumeirah, are minutes away. Indigo colored glass, aluminum and white steel are combined to form an outstanding and unique concept in modern architecture. The roof and a majority of the outside of the tower is covered in solar panels, which supplies more than 50% of the building’s electricity needs. Soaring to an impressive 35 floors, my house rises majestically in the midst of an idyllic setting of tranquil waters and lush green lawns. The ground floor features appealing cafes and shops to entice tenants and visitors while manicured lawns, lakes and boulevards coalesce to ensure working in Indigo Icon is a delightful and productive experience. My house rises a magnificent 35-stories and is set among lush, green lawns and sparkling waterways; the perfect surroundings in which to conduct business. The residential part of the tower comprises 272 apartments in a combination of spacious studios, one, two, three-bedroom apartments, and duplex penthouses. Fully air-conditioned, the interior finishes are of the highest standard. Large balconies and terraces offer breathtaking views overlooking the picturesque lakes and wide expanses of lush greenery to the south and the Arabian Gulf and new Marina development to the north. The commercial part of the tower comprises 68 offices over 8 floors. The residential and commercial floors have separate entrances, ensuring residents have total privacy. This spectacular development offers impressive shopping and dining on the ground floor. Coffee shops look out onto landscaped gardens, all within a secure and peaceful community. Encompassing residential, office and retail outlets, this tower offers all the modern amenities and facilities including a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, cooker and dish washing machine; large lap pool / barbecue area; fully equipped gymnasium; Jacuzzi; bars; high-speed internet; six high speed lifts; 9 screen movie theater; and 24 hour security. The bank is in the basement level of the tower, but there are multiple ATMs on each floor. Every room is simply, but elegant and boasts many modern features. There are elevators and escalators situated on each floor, for easy access to the rest of the tower. My tower has a large undercover car park and additional spaces are provided for the exclusive use of tenants and their visitors. My tower even has an employees quarters. My part of the tower is one whole floor. It consists of all the normal rooms that you would expect in a house: a living room, den, dining room, kitchen, bathrooms, office/workspace,and my bedroom. There’s even an entertainment center, library, and a game room. The living room and den have sofa sets, coffee tables, and TVs. The dining room has a very long table in it and has a red oak floor. The kitchen also has red oak floors, and it has all the high tech appliances in it. My bed room is very colorful and the walls are covered with various posters. My library is fairly small, but it has many books in it.

THANKS.

DIY California Pizza Kitchen : Greek Pizza.

By on October 4th, 2008

THE CPK WEBSITE LISTS THIS FOR THE CONTENTS:

Mediterranean spiced grilled chicken and Mozzarella cheese topped with a chilled Greek salad of cucumbers, red onions, fresh tomatoes, Greek olives, Feta cheese and a lemon-herb vinaigrette. Served with our homemade Tzatziki sauce and chopped Italian parsley

HAS ANYONE MADE IT. WHAT MEASUREMENTS OF THINGS DID YOU USE. HOW DID YOU MAKE THE TZATZIKI SAUCE.

I would really LOVE a good recipe to mimic the restaurant so any tips are appreciated. And PLEASE– if you don’t know how, don’t leave a comment. Things like, “I don’t know” are completely pointless. THANKS.

How to deal with inconsiderate staff.

By on October 2nd, 2008

Yesterday afternoon I had the vicar’s wife over for afternoon tea in the parlour. I was most upset when I discovered the bell to the kitchens was broken as, much to my inconvenience, I had to walk down the corridor and down the stairs to give my message in person.

As I approached the kitchen door I could hear one of my maids giggling with Jonas the butcher’s lad who was delivering our weekly meat order.

Jonas was asking Molly if she fancied a game of ‘hide the sausage’ and Molly seemed to think that this would be an agreeable idea.

I was most distressed at their childish antics and felt that if they must play silly games they should stick to hiding the traditional thimble.

Should I dismiss Molly for messing around with my chipolatas, black puddings and Cumberlands and should I make a formal complaint to Mr. Odder, the master butcher.

legal advice on cock roach problem in rental apartment (NV).

By on October 1st, 2008

I moved into a rental apartment about 2 months ago. I live in Las Vegas NV. I need legal advice on getting a COCK ROACH problem resolved. The complex is made up of approx. 300 units and is owned by a very small property managment company made up of one owner. I have notified the office who takes it very lightly. They have had the exterminator come and spray, this basically does nothing, maybe for a few hours I see results.I contacted the office about getting my whole building sprayed. They said they cant “make” any tenant get sprayed for bugs. I see an average of 15 roaches per day in my kitchen and some now in other areas. I have two babies and am concerned for there health. Who can I contact for help. How bad does it really need to be before something gets done about it. I went online to the local health department but seen nothing on the topic, not sure what department or where to look. Any advice. I wont live like this for a year.
And NO I did not know there was roaches prior to moving in.
