trying to explain a dream is basically contradictory. its your brain doing what it everyday without logic. there is no reason for anything its just thoughts not being controlled by logic. so trying to give it reason is just stupid

Your mind is working on some kind of perceived threat. Something you care about that could be at risk, or some protection or security that you are afraid is not adequate. Has something happened in terms of violence around you or in your town that could cause this. Something has shaken your sense of security and made you doubt that you or your family are adequately protected from.something. You need to figure out the thing making you feel insecure and see what you can do or re-assure yourself as much as you can that things are in place to protect you and your family. Could it be financial problems or potential loss of a job by someone in the family. Has a factory closed in town. If you give it some thought, I am sure you can figure out what your sub-conscious is concerned about.
