What is a good complementatry color for rich taupe.

By on October 22nd, 2008

I am painting my house rich taupe and have an accent wall and am doing the kitchen a different color. I was going to do red, but it is way tool bright. Any ideas would be appreciated.

We did one of our walls in a dark cranberry. It looks really nice. Otherwise a friend of mine did one wall in a dark lavender color, that looks really nice too (both of the rest of our walls are a taupe color too).

the undertone to taupe is red on the color wheel so the cranberry’s and burgundies work great. The opposite side of the wheel is green so they make great contrasting colors. With that in mind you may want to look at the darker greens as a contrasting color. Nothing in the yellow greens, more towards the bluer greens will work well with that taupe color.

    good luck
