How to store plates in a drawer in the kitchen. .

We are wrapping up our kitchen remodel and want to keep our dinner plates and bowls in a drawer instead of a cabinet. We have seen this on TV, but cannot locate any organizers to purchase that will keep the plates from sliding. I’ve seen one on a website that can be pulled out (to take the whole stack of plates to the table, for instance), but the product was not for sale. Also, I’ve seen ones that you can make with peg-board type material that uses dowels to hold the plates in place. We’d rather not have to make something, if we can help it.
Do you have any other ideas.
Thank you.

I think the only way you can do this is to custom make dividers. Since you are already in the middle of a remodel, have wooden slat dividers made to go between the dishes so they don’t move.
Good luck.

If you cover the bottom of the drawer with some rubber matting like you would use under a rug that didn’t have a rubber back, that should help. Since dishes stack and you already know they are in the drawer you wouldn’t open and close it that quickly anyway.

I found some at http://www.thehardwarehut.com/kitchen_drawer.php. Or you can check out DIY.com, Extreme Makeover, and HGTV.com I bet you’ll find the answer there.
