Am i going crazy, or are the people in my life stupid and pointless .
By on September 30th, 2008
We have a small kitchen, designed for one. And we(me and my ma) have 2 lodgers and a student living with us. I work from 5.45am to 9.45am and i study at home all day(home learning).
They’re supposed to be out of the house studying and/or working during the day(9am to 4.30/5pm mon-fri) and there’s always someone here. Playing their music loudly or hogging the kitchen.
I just needed to do some laundry in the kitchen and the lodger was just standing in front of the washing machine making coffee, i can’t maneuver around people in that kitchen. So i asked my mum what her schedule is and she just snapped at me and told me that i “Would never get any peace so i should stop moaning.”
Am i crazy or is my mum just a stupid, pointless, ignorant cow who should go to hell.
By the way i’m 20 years old.
Am i crazy, or do i have a point with their schedules.
What should i do.
THEY SHOULD BE AT SCHOOL.
I can’t concentrate with their inconsiderate noise.
I really want to move out but i can’t study full-time and work full-time too. I don’t have the stamina.
Aaah i wish i was dead.
I would Have to work full-time to be able to move out.
It costs £400 to live in a stinky room in a shared house in the city of Cambridge, U.K.
If i wanted a flat or something like that, i would need about £550.
Whenever i show any sort of ‘bad’ emotion, My mum says that i remind her of my dad.
My dad is mentally ill, he’s an alcoholic, he takes crack cocaine and speed, and he used to beat my mum. She’s not a very intelligent woman, she agreed to marry him after he burnt cigarette holes in her arm. And i don’t think she has any empathy or much kindness for people in trouble.
She makes me think that i’m crazy all the time, she blurs the lines of living for me by saying things like that.
I don’t know whether i’m crazy or not.
She makes me feel bad about myself by comparing me to him.
I don’t drink, i’m not violent, i don’t do drugs, and i listen to other people’s problems all day.
It’s not my fault i look like my father, but if i really remind my mother of him so much then why didn’t she just abort me. Why have children with someone you hate, then blame the kids for looking like him.
Is what my hubby did legal .

I am 21 yrs old college student and my husband is 25 yrs old works in computer programming.we have been married 5.5 months but already on the rocks. Heres what happened my hubby and i split right before our wedding because of petty disagreements over just about everything as in the wedding was called off.it got so bad with screaming yelling he told me it was over.I took comfort in an ex.bf from HS who had been my first love we broke up long ago but whom i had been intimate on/off for 3 yrs whenever i was in between relationships(single because i have never cheated on anyone and am not a slut having only been with 3 men)even though he was not nessarily. It was a short lived fling only 4-5 weeks this time around because my hubby and i got back together and got married 2 weeks later.I did not realize when i got married that i was already 6 weeks pregnant .When i found out i was pregnant i originally thought it was my husbands till i found i was 12 weeks along.I completly freaked did not know what to do attempted to cover it but could not bring myself to have an abortion. When i came clean my hubby was shocked but then became supportive saying he loved me understood and we would get past this but his actions have been erratic along with his mood swings.I spent the weekend at my cousins for a breather and came home to a mess.kitchen cabinents had been removed from the wall, stainless steel appliances all are missing, basically all furniture is gone, he left our dogs outside without food/water,most of my personal things were thrown in the backyard and it rained so my school books are ruined .What can i do my cousin thinks call the police.
I am currently back at my cousins dorm and i have no clue where my husband is his cell phone say no longer in service.
We are renting the house but are in the middle of purchasing it from the landlord.
I did not take off after telling him i was pregnant he found that out months ago and he was also unfaithful with a stripper at one point.
Orange color scheme for open concept living room/kitchen.
By on September 28th, 2008
I am trying to come up with a decorating scheme for my open concept living room/kitchen/dining area.
In the kitchen, the walls will be yellow, cabinets white, countertop black stone, black appliances, and black and white checkered floor. It will look kind of like a modernized 50’s diner.
I am not sure how to integrate this style into the living room. My hubby and I are pretty rock n’ roll, but also quite modern/contemporary. We wanted to paint the living room walls a burnt orange color, but weren’t sure about any of the other colors to use.
We thought about keeping the white crown moulding/window sills/baseboards. What I need are some suggestions for decor colors that will connect our living space to our kitchen.
Why does my food pantry smell, and how do i get rid of it.
By on September 26th, 2008
I have a food pantry about 3ftx3ft with dry goods in it. There is nothing that remains open in the pantry- everything is sealed or the box is tabbed shut. YET IT STILL SMELLS REALLY BAD. I have checked for “something that may have fallen to the back and forgotten,” but there is nothing. I have a small box of baking soda in there but it doesn’t help.
The only thng that works is to spray the area with a tiny bit of fragranced Lysol. I don’t get it on the food of course, but the the door and open patches of the floor, and then I leave it open to air out. This is only a temporary solution- in an hour it smells again.
What the heck can I do. My kitchen should smell delicious with the amount of yummy food I cook in there.

Plumbing question: Is there anything I could really screw up repairing my own kitchen pipe.
By on September 21st, 2008
The pipe below my kitchen cabinet, the part that curves down and then up, has a hole in it. Someone gave me a metal “snake” and I was using it and it just punched a hole in the pipe. I have the tools to remove that section.
Is there anything that I could severely damage if I removed that piece of pipe, took it to Home Depot, got a replacement for it, and reinstalled it.
Thanks in advance. I don’t want to remove anything if there’s a chance I’ll have to have major plumbing work done if I do the wrong thing.
Open plan living. How to maximise sense of space.
By on September 18th, 2008
In an open plan appartment, the kitchen units are made of light beech. The worksurfaces are black. All walls painted white at the moment. To maximise the sense of space, is it best to choose living room furniture made of the same wood as the kitchen units. The appartment is on the small side, but has large bay windows overlooking the ocean. I would like the appartment to appear large, airy and modern.
How to skim coat new drywall.
By on September 16th, 2008
I’m done taping a mudding the joints in my kitchen drywall and am thinking of skim coating everything (ceiling and walls) instead of texturing. We have an 80 yr old home and think that a smooth plaster-like look would be better than the more modern “knock-down” look. I was thinking of using a roller to apply a thinned compound and then a wide (I already have a 14″ blade) drywall blade to wipe it off. Can I use the ready mixed all purpose compound or do I need something else. Anyone have any pointers for this. I’ve seen DIY tips that have you applying with a wide blade also, instead of a roller. Is that better.
I’ll be practicing on some scrap drywall and will most likely have more questions later.
Thanks in advance.
I figured something of my seams might still show through a little and that the skim coat would give me a better chance of hiding these.
And isn’t the ready mix compound too soft for a final coat or does that matter.
Out for dinner in Dublin.

I am looking for a good place to eat out for our anniversary. I am looking for a place with a continental/european kitchen with a nice atmosphere, mid-range in terms of price.
Any good suggestions.
