it is costomary to not leave tips for europians but u could
try to say please leave a tip

Girl, I waited tables for seven and a half years. You have to take the good with the bad. Besides, you never really know if they’ll tip you or not. Sometimes ‘classy’-acting Americans would stiff me, and the ‘pawn off to someone else, namely pejoybeatspocky’ table would leave me 40%. When you do get tables like that, just remember that it’s not your only table, it’s not going to break your bank, and hey, it’s a little cultural learning experience. If you can, just try to pick up an extra table at the end of the night, and bam, you’ll be right back to where you would have been.

I’ve been a server for years and I know to take the good with the bad. I never had to tip out 5% to the kitchen. The most I ever had to tip out was 3% and that went 1% each to bartender, expo and bus boy/girl.

Yes it is frustrating when you get bad tips. However, I am not that mad when it’s tourists from other countries. They might not know what a good tip is. They are SO not used to it, so they might think 12% is good, because that is 12% more they would normally leave.

I get more angry when it’s the American’s who tip bad and leave verbal tips. They should know better. In the end though I do notice I always ended up making between 18-20% that night. You will have the generous people who tip 25% to make up for the ones that didn’t tip as wel.
