My up and down buttons are acting weird.

So I always use my up and down keys on my laptop (Sony Vaio, just 3 days old) as a simple scrolling tool instead of bothering to wiggle the right hand scrolling bar up and down on my screen.

Well, my cat thought it would be fun to step on my laptop while I was in the kitchen. And now whenever I use the buttons, my bar skips to the bottom of the screen and my little word cursor has to travel up and down the whole page to scroll.

How can I fix my buttons to scroll with the bar, and not a word cursor.
