IKEA Furniture.good or bad.

By on August 7th, 2008

I’m planning on buying a condo and the kitchen needs to really be remodel…I hate the white old look. I was thinking about going for that glossy red look…. Have any one boute kitchen cabinets from IKEA. Are there good quality. I just don’t want to spend so much money for something that’s going to brake and not last long. Thank you.

I love Ikea. Everything in my house is Ikea, and i have not had any problems at all, with anything from there.

I’ve never purchased that particular type of furniture from IKEA, but I have gotten a lot of crap and I don’t recommend anything from there, really.

Sometimes when the ikea builders build it they break it or make a mistake.

good looking furniture, but the quality isn’t always the best.

look for yourself and be your own judge. the style looks nice, but the quality isn’t always top-tier.

hmm. tread carefully with IKEA. they arent necesarily cheap and often you need to buy multiple parts to make a full item (beds for example: you need to buy the wooden base and the bed frame separate.)

Also my relative bought a bedroom wardrobe for £190 (over $350 US Dollars) and it’s very flimsy and made of chipboard.

I would make sure you see it in front of you and really check it over before buying.

    Good Luck :)

    Congrats on your new place.
IKEA is a great store with some items worth buying.
My words of advice would be not to buy anything that is the cheapest in a category. If you stay with the items that are priced somewhere in the middle (not the cheapest and not the most expensive) you should get the most for your dollar. The problem with the least expensive items is that they tend to be cheaply made and won’t last long at all. The highest priced items are usually over priced for particle board when you could pay the same at another furniture store for a solid wood item. Their cabinets are great- I used them to remodel a kitchen- the doors are nice and sturdy and I saved a lot of money. I would have paid about 2000.00 more if I had gone to a cabinet maker. Particle board isn’t all bad and sometimes you can’t tell. Most of Pottery Barns furniture is made of particle board and they charge sooooo much more. Also make sure you keep your receipt- they do have a good return policy. I think the red cabinet you picked is great. Just test it out in the store. Good Luck
