how much should i charge to refinish kitchen cabinets & drawers.
By on July 10th, 2008
The cabinets themselves are very basic as well as the drawers. There isnt a lot of contouring that I would run into trouble with but they have been painted over several times. There are about 5 large, 7 medium, 6 small and 6 drawers, plus the cabinet portion attached to the wall still. Ive asked a few people what they felt a reasonable price range would be and Im getting really conflicting opinions. Oh- the time frame is limited too. I would need to have it completed in a weekends time.

my boyfriend and I just got back from seeing a movie. we entered our apartment and their was a STRONG smell of permanent marker or fresh paint. I keep smelling around to try and find the source but no luck. when I stand in between the doorway of the kitchen and livingroom it is strongest. I’m kind of worried to go to sleep. anyone got an idea of what it could be.
Restaurant+ Chef.
By on July 7th, 2008
Im only a senior in highschool but preparing for the future. One thing ive really thought about is people have to eat. I’ve thought about opening up a restaurant but i wouldnt want to do the cooking nor worry bout what goes on in the kitchen. The Chef would be in charge of getting food, ordering what he needs or telling me ,and i basically be in charge of everything financial, getting people that would bring revenue, just everything basically outside the kitchen. It would be an elegant but not “empty your wallet” expensive, and very modern restaurant. I love bussiness and financial stuff, but would it be smart to go into business with a chef or on my own and hire chef and start from there and would a modern day looking restaurant attract your attention as much as a older elegant looking place.
Ideas on Paint Colors. I need Artsy People or Interior designers.
By on July 6th, 2008
Hey. I found a really cute Town Loft on Craigslist that I am moving into next week. It has light colored Bamboo Hardwood floors and I am kinda puzzled as to what paint color would look good on the walls. I’d like to get a rich colored shag rug keeping a modern feel throughout with a modern sectional sofa. Any focal point ideas.or wall color ideas.
This is the link to Craigslist to see the pics of the hardwood floors as well as the kitchen.

suggestions on how to make a stark white, dark blue and sky blue bathroom warm and cozy.(like with towels, etc
By on July 5th, 2008
The only bathroom in my boyfriend’s house has just been remodeled. The only problem is, it feels a little stark in there. The walls are sky blue, with white tiles above the tub/shower unit. There are clear glass doors. The vanity and mirror are white, and the floor is I believe white vinyl tiles with small dark blue diamonds in the middle of each tile. Cute, but doesn’t feel very homy. It also is right off of the kitchen, which I had hoped to one day decorate in more of a warm, country style.
What colors can I use for towels, curtains, wall art, rugs, etc. to warm up the br and have it go with the soon to be country kitchen.
by the way, these colors are not necessarily what I would have chosen.his dad paid for the bathroom remodel and chose everything(including wall color). So I can’t really paint or change colors, etc.
DIY Tile Kitchen Backsplash — Worth the Savings.
By on July 4th, 2008
We are building a new home and are considering doing the travertine backsplash ourselves. I did get an estimate from the guy who did our tile floors, but the bid came back for $690 labor and $180 for materials.
Is this a simple DIY project or should I just hire the sub. I don’t have a lot of time and would only be about to work on it in the evenings for 5-6 hours at a time until finished.
Can someone with no tiling experience (but has the help of people that have done tile) get this done and be happy they did it. I’ve painted the whole house successfully but decided that a painter would have been worth the cost. I don’t want to try and undertake this and wish I hadn’t — any advice.
The design I was planning on was a contemporary, simple, brick pattern. Probably 6×12 or 8×12 tiles.
Which solid wood is considered more expensive for kitchen cabinets cherry or maple and which is warmer.
By on July 3rd, 2008
Both woods being solid and in a lighter stain color with a glaze. Which would probably be more expensive to purchase and which would be considered a warmer look in the kitchen. Both of the same design in a more traditional raised panel.

Two Faces of J.C. penney
In 2000, Dallas retailer Jcpenney (JCpenney.con) enhanced its e-retail position in time for the holiday rush by adding homegrown site features that let customers more quickly locate and pay for merchandise. With JcPenney.com, the company unveiled express checkout services that let customers zip through a purchase in as few as two clicks. It also inaugurated electronic gift certificates that can be redeemed online, plus improved order tracking to give customers more accurate delivery estimates. These features followed the earty November 2000 launch of Mercado Search, a search engine that lets shoppers prowl JcPenney’s site by product category and receive results ranked according to relevance. In 2001, the company rolled out specialized sites dedicated to name-brand merchandise, making it easier for customers to find ceriain products. All these steps were designed to boost the company’s online strategy.
The success of JCPenney, com, in large measure, is a result of a customer service and logistics infrastructure built to support a multibillion-dollar catalog business that has been extended online. JcPenney.com broadened its appeal by launching specialiy sites to promote high margin brands, including Sony, Levi Strauss, Nike, and Kitchen Aid (appliances) The idea is to drive purchases of name-brand merchandise by providing more detailed information on those products, as well as direct links to the manufacturers. JcPenney is also conducting auctlons on its Web site.
The company boasts strong integration between its Web site and its offline infrastructure that helps the site reach its aggressive sales targets. Anything purchased online can be picked up or returned at any JcPenney or Eckerd store. JCPenney has 14 customer-service centers nationwide that handle catalog and phone inquiries, and employees have been cross-trained in e-mail United Parcel Service (UPS) delivers most merchandise ordered online within 24 to 72 hours.
JCPenney serves customers via three sales channels - stores, catalogs, and the Web site. Integrating these three channels will eventually play off, according to Forrester Research analyst Seema Williams “As the number of on-line shoppers grows, the impact from multiple channels will be felt much more on JcPenney’s bottom line,” Williams said.
Despite the strong Web performance, e-commerce alone most likely cannot turn around a company of JCPenney’s size. “The Web is such a small part of their business; there’s no way it’s going to turn around the company,” said an expert. “The Web is icing on the cake, but the biggest pad of the company, by far, is struggling
