my place is great.its gothic- it has a spiral staircase when you enter - that part is shaped like a turret on a tower (its 3 floors so form follows function). I have oil burning lamps, crucifixes from all parts of the world, african art and dark leather and wood. It has hardwood floors and lots of dark colors in my artwork. But it also has a modern feel with stainless steel kitchen and TV. I’m single and don’t have to compromise so I like it to have a masculine feel.
List of things that should be banned forever: paint (for walls and such), carpet (filthy, cheap, 50’s throwback alternative to proper flooring- i don’t care if its berber - its still sucks), florescent lights (i don’t think I need to explain why), Silestone or any other type of synthetic rock used for counters, Engineered wood (maybe the worst of all), hollow cheap 7 ft. doors, and finally drywall (I know, I know- its the building material dujour - doesn’t take away the fact that its cheap crap).
