Best places to volunteer my time.
By on June 9th, 2008
Well college is coming up pretty darn soon, and I have a pitiful list of hours I’ve volunteered.
Starting this summer, on my days off from work, I’m planning to volunteer at city-type areas while my parent’s at work. Only problem is, my idea of volunteering involves soup-kitchens and the like.
so my question is: where are the best places to volunteer, and where are some fun and rewarding places as well. I’m fine with doing actual labor, but I don’t want to be clawing my eyes out from bordom. And I dislike retirenment homes; they smell funny.
P.S. Also, how old do you have to be to volunteer for a political campaign. And where can I get info to do so.
Thanks
Remodeling.Need to know if a house is more valuable with a formal dining room, or an open floor plan.

I’m remodeling my kitchen, which has a formal dining room next to it. However, in my remodeling plans rather than having a wall seperate my kitchen from the formal dining room, I’m taking it down and putting two columns up to show the rooms are seperate. This is suppose to give a wide open floor plan which will result in my kitchen, open to my formal dining room, which leads openly to my grand room. I know this will be better for entertaining however, I am weary of losing value in my home by taking away the “formal” dining room. I have plenty of space in my kitchen to have regular dinners and am wondering if knocking down the wall is necessary or even damaging to my home’s value.
Remodeling An Old Camper.
By on June 7th, 2008
I will be living in an old camper for college. It needs a remodel. Would it be ok to put in real kitchen cabinets and a real toilet or would that make it too heavy. I’ll be living in it for over four years so I want it to be comfy. I’m also thinking about installing a dishwasher and possibly a washer/dryer combo unit. Any thoughts are appreciated.
Need help getting kitchen remodel for my friend.
By on June 4th, 2008
My friend is trying to win a kitchen remodel. She she is the single mom of a toddler who turned 2 today. She & her daughter live alone in the house she was raised in which hasn’t had a makeover since it was purchased in 1979. (Can you say avacado green.) She really deserves this. She sacrificies everything to take care of her daughter. If you can, please go to the website below & vote for her kitchen now through June 9th.

I am refinishing my kitchen cupboards but the previous owner varnished over all the screws and hinges.

Any ideas on getting them out. The screwdriver won’t fit in. I’ve tried picking away at them but that is taking so long and it’s a pain in the butt. Thanks.
Remodeling vs. Refacing.
By on June 2nd, 2008
Our kitchen is in desperate need of updating. We’re thinking of starting with the cabinets. I think they could just do with a little refacing and resurfacing the countertops. I do wonder though, if it would be better to shell out the money now and just have it all completely remodelled. Opinions.
Thanks Bean. We probably will be selling after a few years, so I’ll keep that in mind.
