By on June 18th, 2008

Its a small bouqet, about wrist to elbow in length, and has roses, gerbras and some leaf things tied with a mauve ribbion.

I had my deb ball on sunday and have just kept them in a vase of water. But i want to preserve them further without all the leaves and petals falling off.

Someone told me about hanging it up side down from string in my kitchen or something.

Anyway any ideas please help.

I want to remember that night forever it was so magical and the flowers were a part of it.

.no stovetop/oven range; have one electric hotplate, toaster, microwave, toasteroven, and refrigerator/freezer. Just moved in and exhausted; normally I can plan this myself but it’s late and want to get to the market early tomorrow.sooo, Don’t need 3 squares a day; just simple foods using those appliances, allowing for high California temps. Local shopping here is: Food4Less, Stater Bros, WalMart and 99cOnly. Appreciate your answers so I can take a break here.

Has anyone heard of a Summit refrigerator.

By on June 16th, 2008

I’ve got a teeny-tiny size kitchen. I am planning a complete re-do in a few months, and I’m starting my research now for products. I want a stainless steel counter-depth refrigerator (24 inches), but the space will not accomodate a side-by-side. This is what the counter-depth models are, and they’re too wide, as is a French door model. I’ve only found two regular refrigerators, both very small capacity, that are 24 inches deep. My current old appliance is small capacity,17.2 Cu. Ft. but it sticks out several inches beyond the counter. I want the new fridge to tuck in for a more streamlined look.

The only two I’ve found are online. The brands are LG and Summit. Summit makes some that are a little bit bigger than LG.

Has anyone ever heard of Summit. They’re kind of pricey, but I’d be willing to skimp in other areas in order to get the fridge the right dimensions for the Barbie-doll-sized space.

Our house is a wreck due to clutter and half-done remodeling projects, and my husband doesn’t mind. I do.

By on June 15th, 2008

My husband and I are wonderful together, but we have discussed this so many times with the same results. He says that there’s nothing we can do about it because our home will “always be in some state of construction.” I try to push through and ignore things, but I can’t live like this anymore. I have threatened leaving him and even suicide (2 years ago), but since it doesn’t bother him, he can’t make sense of it. We have remodeled almost every room in the house, but no room is done. My kitchen is half gutted, and as far as clutter, our house is full, our two-car garage is full (not with cars), and a tent-garage thing (13×20) is full. He will pull 20 nails out of a rotten piece of wood to save it. He has every note, paper, and exam from 30 years off and on of college. It absolutely drives me crazy, but I can’t do it by myself. He says that he wants to finish projects and get rid of stuff too, but we never have the time, energy, or money to do it. Ideas or sympathy will be appreciated.

are these golf jokes funny.

What will you do for golf.
Four married guys go golfing on Sunday. During the 3rd hole the following conversation ensued:

First Guy: “Man, you have no idea what I had to do to be able to come out golfing this weekend. I had to promise my wife that I will paint every room in the house next weekend.”

Second Guy: “That’s nothing, I had to promise my wife that I will build her a new deck for the pool.”

Third Guy: “Man, you both have it easy. I had to promise my wife that I will remodel the kitchen for her.”

They continue to play the hole when they realized that the fourth guy has not said a word. So they ask him. “You haven’t said anything about what you had to do to be able to come golfing this weekend. What’s the deal.”

Fourth Guy: “I don’t want to talk about it. Let’s just say that the foundation for the new house is being poured next Tuesday.”

I want to buy a golf ball
A blonde golfer goes into the pro shop and looks around frowning.

Finally the pro askes her what she wants. “I can’t find any green golf balls,” the blonde golfer complains.

The pro looks all over the shop, and through all the catalogs, and finally calls the manufacturers and determines that sure enough, there are no green golf balls.

As the blonde golfer walks out the door in disgust, the pro asks her, “Before you go, could you tell me why you want green golf balls.””Well obviously, because they would be so much easier to find in the sand traps.”

I am living in Florida. I am 19 years old. I love Spanish. I learned the language partially in school and partially at my job (working in a kitchen with immigrants.)

I would love to do something with the language in the future as far as my career is concerned. The only ideas I can come up with are becoming a Spanish teacher or some type of translator. Does anything else come to your mind. Thanks in advance.

What can I do easily with 800g mushrooms.

By on June 12th, 2008

In my kitchen there are 800g white mushrooms that need to be eaten as soon as possible (out of date as of tomorrow). I have all the basics (butter, oil, garlic, onions etc.) and also some potatoes, celery, chopped tomatoes, sweetcorn, chickpeas and lentils but not a lot else (no alcohol or cream for example, but I can use milk or eggs). I have no idea what to do with these mushrooms. Any ideas.

How do you remove a smokey odor from a small space.

By on June 11th, 2008

Sunday night we accidentally burnt a potato in the microwave. (I learned never again to use the potato setting button.geez) It caused our apartment to get very smokey and while it cleared out just fine, it still smells. Our apartment is a studio with a small bedroom that cannot be classified as such because there are no windows in there. There are two bay windows in the living room area with two small crank out windows beneath that and that’s it. Because of this, there’s no cross breeze, so it’s harder to air out.

We’ve febreezed the furniture twice, washed all the linens that were out at the time of the incident, cleaned out the microwave, and changed the filter in the central air unit. After I got home from work last night I opened up the windows (which have to stay closed during this heat wave or it’ll wind up being about 110 in there) and put a window fan exhausting the air outward. I also put a fan in the entryway to the bedroom, and one on the kitchen counter.
all facing towards the front windows. I let them go for hours and it seemed to help somewhat. This morning when I woke up, I noticed the smell was still there a bit. Is there anything we could do, or any product that we could use that would aid in getting rid of the stench.

We can’t paint over our white walls, how to brighten the room.

By on June 10th, 2008

We moved into our first apartment with the hopes of painting, only to have these dreams crushed.

The other huge issue is every piece of furniture we own is old, mismatched wood and we are working on an extremely tight budget.

Would it be a poor decision to paint all our wood pieces a vibrant color to help brighten the room, or just work with the mismatched wood.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions on hanging fabric to block off a doorway. We have three of our main rooms connection with no doors and need to block off the kitchen into the living room to help keep it cool. The duct tape is not aesthetically pleasing.

Thanks.
