my kitchen backsplash currently has 4″ square tiles which i do not want to remove if it can be avoided at all. can i work right over them. i am not sure what i want to do, perhaps stainless steel for a more industrial look or mirror to bounce the light around or subway tile or .
i would really appreciate some advice as to whether i can leave these tiles or do i absolutely have to remove them. and if anyone has any new ideas on new backsplash materials feel free to share your thoughts
thanks to everyone for sound advice and ideas.
i love the idea of the white with a silver strip. i also think the mosaic tiles sounds interesting. thanks.
Side-by-side or french door refrigerator. Opinions please.
By on May 5th, 2008
We are in the market for a new refrigerator as we are remodeling our kitchen and have some space issues. Right now, we have a top freezer refrigerator and with the new kitchen, if we kept that refrigerator I would have to have the person sitting at the island move while I get into the refrigerator-the refrigerator door will clear our island with about 3 inches to spare. So, we are debating between a french door or side-by-side.and it has to be counter depth. My hubby would really like ice and water thru the door, which ups the prices tremendously. I was thinking of getting the side-by-side (which is $500 cheaper).in my opinion, it would take up less space when I open the door since I would be standing to the side. I’m feeling as if the french door will take up more space since i’ll have to stand directly in front of it with both doors open. we have an extra small refrigerator in our basement for those few times we’ll have large platters.

Remodling our kitchen and I need help figuring out some colors. The floors are gona be light oak hardwood (fabricated) floors. The cabinets will be white bead board, back splash will be reproduction pressed tin and the ceilling will be corragated metal. I cannot decide on the color for the countertops . They will be Corian. I am doing a country thing (roosters) with barn reds, yellows, jade greens etc. I also need an idea for paint color (even though only a small portion of the walls will be painted due to the lay out of the room).
How would you solve this problem.

Steve and Laurie Carah borrowed $4500 from their credit union to remodel their kitchen. The simple interest rate was 4.75% and the length of the loan was 3 years. How much did the Carahs pay for the use of the loan. Determine the amount the Carahs paid to the credit union on the date of maturity of the loan.
Where can I find a tortilla/crepe iron.
By on May 2nd, 2008
I used to have one awhile back that was made by Betty Crocker. My grandpa had one years before that made by someone else. However I lost mine and I’m looking for a replacement. I did several online searches and even visited local stores like Bed Bath and Beyond and kitchen speciality shops with no luck. I have no problems whatsoever finding tortilla presses or crepe pans but I am not wanting anything like that. The pans don’t make the crepes or tortillas thin enough. They’re thick like pancakes.
To describe what it looks like, it’s similar in shape to a pan: round on one end with a plastic handle. The iron (the round end) has a white base and the iron part is black, and the handle is the same white plastic as the base. It has a cord attached. It’s not quite 2″ tall to accomodate for the heating element inside the iron end.
